Letter: Some of the best athletes wear rhinestones
With the winter Olympics coming up in just a week, many people look forward to watching the figure skating competition. The true talent of these athletes is making it look easy. Most of us watching have no idea how many hours of training and numerous falls on the ice took place before mastering those jumps and spins.
This coming weekend, the Red River Valley Figure Skating Classic will be held at the Moorhead Sports Center. Over 300 skaters from the region will be competing and showcasing their hard work, 73 skaters from our local club.
These athletes and their coaches are often on the ice by 5 a.m. training and preparing these difficult moves and working on making it look easy. If you can't get enough of skating on TV, be sure to come see these athletes from our region in action.
Would love to see The Forum sports team cover these tough and accomplished skaters. Good luck and "SK8 GR8!"
