Dr. Bekker (Norma Kuhling) and Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) will take on a risky procedure in this week's Chicago Med. World-renowned surgeon and Ava's mentor Dr. Marvin Jaffrey (Malcolm McDowell) drops by to have a tumor removed from one of his lungs. However, Jaffrey requests to be awake for the surgery which adds a huge complication -- one that Dr. Rhodes thinks is unnecessary.
Unfortunately, he's outnumbered by Bekker and Latham (Ato Essandoh) who agree to proceed after coming up with a workout for potential issues. The question is, will things go according to plan?

Thursday's episode will also see Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) and April (Yaya DaCosta) contemplate calling child services on a family who they suspect is abusing their child. Meanwhile, Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) find themselves at odds over how to assist another family with a premature baby.
