COSE announces new volunteer leadership

The Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) has a new chairman and five new members of its board of directors.

John C. Young, the owner of Speed Exterminating Co., was elected to a two-year term as chairman at the small business group's Jan. 23 meeting at the Terrace Club inside Progressive Field. He succeeds Michael Stanek, vice president and chief financial officer of Hunt Imaging LLC and Cleveland Cycle Tours.

Young's father, John W. Young, served as COSE chairman from 1984 to 1985.

Named to the board were Fernando Bertero, co-owner of Fully Promoted.EmbroiderMe of North Olmsted; Alex Gertsburg, CEO of the Gertsburg Law Firm Co.;Bob Pacanovsky, owner of the Black Tie Experience; Cheryl Perez, president and managing partner of the Benefits Innovation Group; and Russ Schabel, CFO of Philpott Solutions Group.

The small business advocacy group also announced that Marvin Montgomery, of Marvin Montgomery and Associates, was the winner of the 2017 Volunteer Service Award, given to "a volunteer leader who has gone above and beyond with their work in support of COSE." Montgomery is a sales training consultant.

COSE is the small business arm of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, the regional chamber of commerce.
