An alleged narcotic smuggler was held with one and a half kg of opium during a checking drive at Kariha village near here, police claimed today. DSP Harvinder Singh said the accused identified as Onkar was held by a police party at a check point near Kariha village last evening. He was driving a car and tried to escape on seeing police at the check-point, but was cornered, claimed the DSP. A search of his car led to the recovery of one and a half Kg of opium, said the DSP. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC, he said.
