Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, Ajay Singh, here on Sunday met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and demanded a CBI enquiry into the Congress MLA Hemant Katare case. He handed over a letter to the CM claiming that MLA Hemant Katare has been implicated in the case for political gains.

In the letter, Ajay Singh stated that the girl was caught blackmailing, Vikramjeet Singh is still absconding and the girl has given affidavit regarding her trapping Katare.

Girl’s mother has claimed in a video that Vikramjeet has trapped Katare using her daughter.

In the case, if the girl was sexually exploited she had not provided her details to court and the media and suddenly after one week she was suggested to write letter to Jail Superintendent. The girl is in judicial custody and jail department has not informed court before sending the letter to police.

The police have registered a case against Katare without proper investigation.

Notably, more than a week after a 21-year-old girl was arrested for blackmailing and extortion, police on Friday booked Congress MLA Hemant Katare for sexually assaulting and abducting the student. The 21-year-old student of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism is currently under judicial custody and has sent a written complaint against the MLA. SP Bhopal (South) Rahul Kumar Lodha said that the MLA was booked for rape, wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation based on the victim’s complaint.

On January 24 police arrested the student for allegedly demanding Rs 2 crore from Katare and then attempting to collect the first installment of Rs 5 lakh.
