Woman in Malaysia killed trying to stop fight between husband and eldest child

KOTA KINABALU (THE STAR/ ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A 38-year-old woman was beaten to death by her 40-year-old husband when she intervened to stop him from fighting with their eldest child.

The Indonesian woman had heard her husband and their eldest child fighting at about 8pm Saturday (Feb 3) at their Sandakan home and had gone to calm them down.

However, her husband got angrier and started kicking, pushing and throwing her to the ground.

Sandakan police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin said the woman lost consciousness when her head hit the floor.

He said police went to her house following the incident but found that the husband and children were not there.

"At about 6.30am on Sunday, police found the man at a house in an estate and nabbed him," ACP Azhar said.

He said the man is being investigated for murder.
