5 Indians in ICC U-19 WC Team
dubai: The Indians expectedly dominated the Under-19 World Cup team announced by the ICC on Sunday, with five players from the triumphant side making it to the world eleven. India on Saturday lifted a record fourth U-19 World Cup trophy after an eight-wicket rout of Australia in the final at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand, underlining their dominant run in the tournament. The world team has the top three of the Indian batting line-up -- captain Prithvi Shaw (261 runs), player of the final Manjot Kalra (252 runs) and player of the tournament Shubman Gill (372 runs). Left-arm spinner Anukul Roy (14 wickets) and fast bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti (9 wickets) are the others named in the world team.
BCCI website offline after domain not renewed
new delhi: BCCI, the richest cricket board in the world, has not been able to renew the domain of its official website www.Bcci.Tv in time. Website registrars register.Com and namejet.Com have put the domain name up for public bidding, receiving seven bids so far with the highest of $270. The domain was valid from 2-2-2006 to 2-2-2019. The updation date however happened to be February 3, 2018. The board's website was dysfunctional till Sunday evening and even more embarrassment as the senior national men's team was playing the second ODI against South Africa at the Centurion.
NEUFC hold FC Goa to 2-2 draw in ISL
margao: NorthEast United came from behind to hold FC Goa to a 2-2 draw in an Indian Super League match, here on Sunday. Mandar Rao Dessai (42nd minute) and Ferran Corominas (53rd) scored for FC Goa, while Mario De Souza Greogorio Junior (45th) and substitute John Jairo Mosquera (71st) were the goal getters for the visitors. The draw enabled FC Goa to reach 20 points, the same as Kerala Blasters but due to better goal difference, the Goan outfit are placed fifth. NorthEast United are placed ninth with 11 points from 12 matches.
Kallon takes NEROCA to I-league summit
imphal: NEROCA FC defeated Gokulam Kerala FC by a solitary goal to jump to the top of the 2017-18 Hero I-League, here on Sunday. Liberian defender Varney Kallon Kiatamba scored two minutes before half-time which was enough for the newly- promoted side to register all three points at their home ground and unsettle Minerva Punjab FC at the top. Gift Raikhan decided not to disturb NEROCA's winning combination which defeated Churchill Brothers in their away game earlier this week. NEROCA opened the goal mouth on multiple occasions within the first 25 minutes of the match. Aryn Williams' shot from inside the box was cleared valiantly by Mohammed Irshad.
Haryana win in Sr National women's hockey
ranchi: Hockey Haryana and Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) registered brilliant wins over their respective rivals on the fourth day of the eighth Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2018 (A Division), here on Sunday. RSPB continued their fine form as they beat Hockey Punjab 4-1, while Hockey Gangpur, Odisha notched up a comfortable 5-0 win over Assam Hockey. Hockey Maharashtra also registered a hard-fought 3-2 win over Uttar Pradesh Hockey to stay in contention. In another match, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu beat Chhattisgarh Hockey 4-3, while Hockey Haryana too continued their winning run, defeating Hockey Odisha 2-0. Meanwhile, Hockey Madhya Pradesh drew 2-2 with Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy. In the last match of the day, Hockey Jharkhand beat Indian Universities 3-0.
