It was going to take a near perfect game to pull off the upset of the No. 2 Glen Rose Lady Tigers, but the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars just couldn't quite finish the job Friday night.

Glen Rose's Ally Andress scored 13 of her game-high 33 points in the fourth quarter to propel the Lady Tigers to the 18-point road win, 47-28.

“Their defense is really good,” Heritage head girls’ basketball coach Jason Hodges said. “Coach (Ramsey) Ghazal does a great job over there. I thought our defense was just as good in the first half. But, we got a little sloppy in the second half with turnovers on offense.

"Defensively, we just missed our assignments. In the second half, they turned a close game into kind of a blowout. I do not think the score shows how we hung in there. People look at the box and say they beat them by 18. But I think we hung in there for a good three quarters. Again, that’s why they are the number two team in the state.”

For Heritage, Jasmine Bailey led the team with eight points and Blythe Williams added seven. Dani Wallace scored five points. Emma Arnold, Rachael Gray, Saige Klor and Karena Tipton all scored two points.

Heritage, who is already locked into the 4A playoffs and ranked 18th in the TABC 4A poll, closes out the regular season Tuesday, Feb. 2 on the road against Venus. Tip-off is at 6:15 p.m.
