Brandin Cooks has been ruled out of Super Bowl LII after he suffered a concussion at the end of a 23-yard catch early in the second quarter.

Cooks caught a pass from Tom Brady and looked to reverse field but didn't see Eagles S Malcolm Jenkins, who delivered a violent helmet-to-helmet shot that appeared to temporarily knock Cooks out.

After staying down for a moment, Cooks was able to walk off the field and, soon, the locker room. The Patriots quickly ruled out Cooks, who absorbed an earlier huge hit when he was rejected trying to hurdle Eagles S Rodney McLeod on a third-and-2 play in the red zone.

Stephen Gostkowski then missed the short field goal attempt after holder Ryan Allen bobbled the snap. Gostkowski also a missed PAT following a James White touchdown just before the two-minute warning.

Since Cooks clearly possessed the the ball and had turned into a runner after the catch, Jenkins' hit was legal.

Tom Brady also took a big shot to the midsection right as he was delivering the throw to Cooks, and he's appeared to be slightly off on his throws since.

The Eagles lead the Patriots, 15-12, at the two-minute warning. Philadelphia has received huge plays from LeGarrette Blount and Alshon Jeffery, both of whom have touchdowns. But Eagles rookie PK Jake Elliott missed his first PAT try, and Doug Pederson's decision to go for two following Blount's score failed.

The Patriots lost leading receiver Rob Gronkowski to a concussion early in the second quarter of the AFC title game. Now, they'll be without their second-leading receiver in Cooks for the rest of the Super Bowl.
