Xavier wins two more medals
PANAJI: Swimmer Xavier D’Souza on Sunday added two more medals to his tally as he won silver and bronze on day four of the 1st Khelo India School Games 2018 being underway in New Delhi. Xavier won silver in Boys 50mts Backstroke after clocking timing of 0:27:80 while his bronze came in 100mts Freestyle where he clocked 0:54:63. Goa now have 7 medal in its tally.
Curchorem Gymkhana south zone cricket champs
SANGUEM: Curchorem Gymkhana defeated Sportsweek CC, Margao by four wickets in the final of South Zone GCA B Div cricket here at GCA Sanguem grounds on Sunday. Opting to bowl first, Curchorem Gymkhana restricted Sportsweek to 198 for 7 in 40 overs. And in reply, chased down the target losing six wickets. Yogesh Dongre top-scored with 71 while Taranjit and Anup Vernekar contributed with 24 and 29 not out respectively.
STP Banrar, Verekar Brothers win
SANQUELIM: STP Banrar edged SK Superkings 2-1 in the Sanquelim Football League match played at Sanquelim Municipal ground here on Sunday. Muyeez scored both the goals for STP Banrar while Scully John scored the lone goal for Superkings. In day’s other match, Verekar Brothers drubbed Amhi Sakhalikar 3-0. Rudresh Mandrekar, Albaz Khan scored a goal each for Verekar Brothers. Their third goal came in the form of self goal when Sakhalikar defender Raju Abbigari scored own goal.
Chandor SC enter finals
AMBELIM: Chandor SC entered the finals of the Lourdes Soccer Cup, organised by Ambelim Sports Club, defeating Cuncolim Union 2-0 at Ambelim ground, on Sunday. After a barren first half, Chandor SC managed to break the deadlock through Lino in the final quarter. Benson further inflated the lead in the dying minutes of the game to take the match beyond Cuncolim’s reach.
