Pink Powers Through the Flu and Gum to Sing the Super Bowl's National Anthem

Despite fighting the flu and the very wintry weather up in Minneapolis, Minn., Pink stepped onto the field for Super Bowl LII to deliver the National Anthem with poise and impressive note precision.

And despite the fact that there weren't any major political moments associated with the song this time -- the players seemed to stand, rather than taking the opportunity to kneel -- there was still at least one buzzy moment of the show that gave audiences something to chew on.

Just as the introductory melody music began to cue up, Pink had to get rid of her wad of chewing gum so that all the singing could commence, and fans had a fit online.

Did I just see Pink remove her Gum to sing the national anthem of the USA 😂😂 what a woman!!!!!!

— Noel Hunt (@Noelhunt20) February 4, 2018

I loved Pink already and then she slipped her gum out right before singing the national anthem and I loved her even more

Pink's dropped gum will have a crucial role in the endgame here. It's the clear Chekhov's gun tonight.

Who knew Pink's chewing gum would become the secret MVP of the game this year?

Mostly, though, fans were impressed at how well she handled the lofty task of delivering the nation's symbolic song in front of such a large audience while she was under the weather -- in more ways than one.

The Flu: I am taking you down! Pink: Hold my coughdrop. #pink @pink #SuperBowl

Pink, especially considering she has the flu...great job.

Man. @Pink If I could come even close to singing the anthem that well on the HEALTHIEST day of my life, I'd retire right then and there. You're unreal.
