Association alleges

The Manipur Truck Owners' Welfare Association has alleged that the inspection trip organised by PWD (National Highway Circle) SE, Y Joykumar along with some transporters on January 31 along National Highway 2 (Imphal-Dimapur), is not according to the directives of the High Court but rather against it.
Speaking to media persons at the association's office at MG Avenue, its president H Ranjit claimed that according to the Court's directive, the inspection was to be carried out in the presence of Ministry of Road Transports and Highways Regional Officer, Guwahati.
He said that inspection trip led by SE, Y Joykumar does not make sense and it is against protocol for him to lead such a trip as he does not possess the necessary authority.
H Ranjit alleged that the SE collaborated with the Director of Transport Department and submitted a notification issued by Ministry of Surface Transport Wing on November 18, 1996, to the Joint Government Advocate to be submitted to the Court, instead of the notification issued by the National Highway Authority of India on February 6, 2016 .
Alleging that the said party also gave the registration number of only four oil tankers to the Court instead of enclosing the numbers/details of all the 10 wheeler and 12 wheeler trucks present in the State, the president asked if the Transport Department registers only oil tankers.
H Ranjit further said that the association will vehemently oppose the alleged attempt of the SE, some oil tanker owners, Transport Department and Bharatia Infra Pvt Ltd, to prevent the oil tankers and vehicles from plying along Imphal-Dimapur road and also appealed to the State Government to take up necessary action against the said attempt.
Alleging that the attempt to stop traffic along the said road instead of repairing it, is a ploy to benefit the contractors as well as some transporters, H Ranjit demanded the State Government to take up befitting actions against the SE, Y Joykumar at the earliest.
