First Program Management Professional credential in Oman awarded

Project Management Institute (PMI) announced the award of Program Management Professional (PgMP®) credential to Ajay Kapoor, an Indian expatriate based in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. 

As per PMI latest monthly statistics, the first PgMP® credential holder in Oman has been recorded in the month of November 2017. Globally, there are only 2120 PgMP® certified professionals and this forms a select group of 0.2% amongst PMI’s other certifications like PMP, PfMP, CAPM, PMI-PBA, PMI-RMP, PMI-ACP. In the EMEA region, the number of PgMP® credential holders stands at 418 as at end November 2017.

Alumnus of the premier educational institutions Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Ajay Kapoor has worked with India’s leading EPC company and after re-locating to Oman in 2001, has held leadership position with Omani companies engaged in high technology solutions and systems integration.  Ajay received his PMP® credential in 2014 before receiving the PgMP® in November 2017. He says “the seeds of process orientation and working in projects were sown in India. It is in Oman that I have honed my project management skills. I am fortunate to have got the opportunity to execute several projects deploying cutting edge technologies and contribute in some mission critical programs”.

With the Government’s major thrust in building infrastructure in the Sultanate of Oman, there is an increasing need to have certified project management professionals and the credentials can give distinct advantage in employment”.
