Ronaldo return

06.50: Real Madrid want Cristiano Ronaldo to join Manchester United in negotiations that could see David De Gea move to the Bernabeu, according to reports.

United are set to face another fight to keep De Gea with Real expected to come calling at the end of the season.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon claims the La Liga champions are ready to include Ronaldo in any proposal to land the shot stopper.

De Gea’s current contract expires in 2019 but the club have the option of automatically extending it by a further year.

However, Don Balon say Los Blancos are hopeful that using Ronaldo as bait may pull off.

Steven Gerrard reveals Sanchez truth

06.15: Former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has revealed how the Arsenal players felt about Alexis Sanchez.

The forward refused to sign a new contract with the Gunners and was eventually allowed to join Manchester United in a swap deal including Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

And Gerrard has claimed that Sanchez was “toxic” around the club and it was a good job they granted his leaving wish.

“With Sanchez going, it seemed to me that it was going toxic in the dressing room,” Gerrard told BT Sport.

“I think all of the players might have gone into their shell with all of the problems he was causing.

“It is a clean slate and everybody else might get a bit of confidence from that.”

De Gea replacement

05.30: Man Utd are already planning for life after David De Gea, according to reports

Real Madrid are expected to make a move for the Spaniard in the summer transfer window.

So in anticipation of an approach, Man Utd have began looking for De Gea’s successor.

According to the Sun, Everton’s Jordan Pickford has been highlighted as his eventual replacement.

However, one stumbling block could be that Everton would demand over £50m for his services.
