Union Bank posts net loss of Rs 125 crore for Q3

NEW DELHI: State-run Union Bank of India on Saturday posted a net loss of Rs 125 crore ($194.95 million) for the third quarter, weighed down by provisions made for borrowers undergoing bankruptcy proceedings.

The net loss for the period ending December 31 compared with a profit of Rs 104 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Gross bad loans as a percentage of total loans stood at 13.03 per cent at December-end, versus 12.35 per cent at September-end and 11.70 per cent a year earlier, the bank said in a statement.
