A longtime leader in the concrete industry and Ozinga executive was inducted into the Indiana Ready Mix Concrete Association Hall of Fame recently.
Don Rapley, Ozinga's vice president of materials and logistics operation in Indiana, has been a member of the trade association since 1990 and a board member since 2008, serving as board president twice. The former president of Ozinga's ready mix concrete operation in Indiana was given the career honor for "his years of service, influence in the concrete industry, and dedication."
"Throughout Rapley’s career, which includes 27 years at Ozinga and a tenure at Levy Slag Co., he has been instrumental in building his team and encouraging more participation throughout sales, quality control, and safety," Orzina said in a news release. "During his term with the IRMCA, Rapley ensured the committees met and oversaw basic functions of the board and association, and his leadership also helped maintain the IRMCA through the Great Recession and contributed to a seamless transition from the previous executive director."
The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association represents concrete makers, suppliers and contractors across the state, including through promotion, advocacy, and education.
It gives out the Hall of Fame honor annually to those "who have given time and effort to advance the interests of the IRMCA as well as the concrete industry."
Ozinga, known for its red-and-white striped concrete mixer truckers, has local operations in Gary, Crown Point, Cedar Lake, Valparaiso and LaPorte.
