Adelaide Strikers beat Hobart Hurricanes by 25 runs to win maiden Big Bash League trophy

Jake Weatherald hammered a 57-ball ton to take his side to 202/2 in 20 overs. The target proved too much for Hobart Hurricanes to chase.

Adelaide Strikers won the Big Bash League final.

Coming in to chase a massive total of 203 runs in the Big Bash League final, Hobart Hurricanes suffered an early blow with Tim Paine departing for 5 runs. It was skipper Travis Head who gets the wicket in his first over. Hurricanes skipper George Bailey stitched a solid partnership with the other opener Darcy Short as the duo went on to score 85 runs in 10 overs. Bailey approached his fifty but failed to score it as he departed for 46, being dismissed by Peter Siddle. Short went on to hammer his fifty but failed to contain the required run rate which kept on piling up. Ben McDermott was dismissed for 9 as he became Siddle’s second victim. Hurricanes failed to reach the total with wickets continue to tumble at regular intervals. Darch Short, who scored 69 runs, gave a good fight but was dismissed by Siddle. Hobart Hurricanes reached 177/5, losing by 25 runs. Adelaide Strikers win maiden Big Bash League Trophy.
