WILLIAM N. DIBENEDETTO JR.

William N. DiBenedetto Jr. Beaver William N. DiBenedetto, Jr., 74, of Beaver, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver. Born April 19, 1943, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late William N. and Verna May DiBenedetto. A Beaver resident for many years, Bill graduated from Carnegie-Mellon in 1965 with a degree in music and music education, in 1971 with a Master's Degree in Music Education, and in 1989, the Doctoral Program in Educational Administration. He began his accomplished career with the Millvale Borough School District as a music and band director, moving on to the Beaver Area School District in 1969, where he continued as a band director and music teacher before becoming the district's Staff Development Coordinator. Mr. D. crossed the river to the Aliquippa School District in 1988, accepting the Assistant Superintendent position, and then, becoming Superintendent of Schools from 1998 - 2004. He also served as interim Superintendent with the Rochester Area School District in 2008. Bill not only gave of his talents in the classroom, but also to many community organizations in Beaver County. He served as a past president of the B.F. Jones Memorial Library, Aliquippa, Fort McIntosh Men's Club, Beaver and the Beaver County Educational Trust; treasurer for the Drug and Alcohol Services of Beaver County; and the Board of Trustees for the Pennsylvania Distance Learning Charter School. Other local organizations which benefitted from Bill's knowledge and experience were the Community College of Beaver County, Prevention Project, and the Salvation Army, Aliquippa Corps. Bill was a devoted follower of the Anglican faith, worshipping at Trinity Anglican Church, Beaver, where he served as a Senior Warden, and later, at Grace Church, Edgeworth, where he was a member of the vestry and choir. Bill was also a faithful member of Community Bible Study since 2006. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 46 years, Deborah DiBenedetto, Beaver; his daughter, Natalie DiBenedetto; and his three grandchildren, Nicholas, Eliza, and Naomi Rapp, all of Emsworth; along with many friends, too numerous to count, who will cherish memories of Bill's generosity and compassion, along with his infectious smile that endeared him to everyone he met. Friends will be received Sunday, February 4, 2018, from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted by his pastor, the Reverend Chance Perdue, Monday, February 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Grace Church, Edgeworth.
