A new steak house is hoping to raise the bar in Princes Avenue.
Robin’s Oak Steak and Wines opened its doors on Saturday night, offering a selection of quality steaks and dishes.
The restaurant’s owner, Ricardo Gheorghita, said he and his wife Florentina were inspired to open the steak house by their travels to Argentina.
Ricardo said: “We both worked for 10 years on cruise ships, and have been around the world four times.
“We went to Argentina and the steaks there are amazing. This was the idea, and it was inspired by them.
“Since we came to Hull I managed Lazaat in Cottingham, and we had a café in Holderness Road.
“There seems to be a lack of steak houses in Hull, and we wanted to make something which was rustic, vintage and had a relaxed atmosphere.”

The mouth-watering menu includes a vast array of steaks, from sirloin and rump to fillet and gammon steak.
There is also a ‘Robin’s Platter’ for couples feeling brave.
It comes with an assortment of meats, tomatoes, potatoes and mushrooms, and two glasses of wine.

The inspiration for the name came from Robin Hood, and the fact the couple’s son is also called Robin.
The steak house opened its doors at 5pm on Saturday, with bookings already taken for steak lovers.
Ricardo said however there is plenty of choice for those looking for an alternative to steak.
“We cater for vegetarians, vegans and people who are gluten-free. It is not just a place for steak.

“I am very excited and a little bit nervous, but I am looking forward to making a difference to the road.
“We want to improve the standard of food in Princes Avenue.”
Starters at the restaurant include ribs, pork belly, tiger prawns and baked camembert.
The restaurant has been designed tastefully, and the relaxed atmosphere Ricardo was aiming for seems to have been achieved.
There are plans for a gin bar to open above the restaurant in the coming weeks.
The passion from Ricardo is clear to see.

He has come to Princes Avenue with the aim of filling what he sees as a gap in the market.
It is hoped the new restaurant will provide a quality addition to the avenues area of Hull, and on first impressions, it has the potential to take off in style.
