All this while, pizzas have been infamous for being the unhealthy eating option but seems it is finally getting its due credit. As per recent reports, having a slice of pizza for breakfast may be a healthier option than a bowl of cereal! Registered dietitian Chelsey Amer says that a greasy slice of pizzas could be a more balanced breakfast option than cereal because it has more protein, more fresh ingredients, and less sugar than cereal. While cereals are advertised as a healthy breakfast option, they don’t contain enough protein, healthy fats and lack nutritional value. Amer said that pizza will, in fact, provide a strong balance of protein carbs and fats, unlike many popular kinds of cereal which contain the same amount of calories in a candy bar.

Amer told The Daily Meal, “You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contains nearly the same amount of calories. However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning. Plus, a slice of pizza contains more fats and much less sugar than most cold cereals, so you will not experience a quick sugar crash.”

Reports also state that a single serving of Frosted Flakes contains 110 calories, 0 gram of fat and 10 grams of sugar. While the calorie amount does not seem lot people don’t just stick to one serving. According to a 2014 study, most people eat upto 132 percent more than a single serving. Meanwhile, a slice of cheese pizza contains around 272 calories, 12 grams of protein, 10 grams of fat, and 4 grams of sugar. Hence, eating Frosted Flakes when compared to pizza may not be a good idea as it has fewer grams of sugar and not essential fats and proteins.
