Imphal, February 03 2018: The JAC against the killing of Ch Mani Meitei, Torbung Area, Kangleipak Lamjing Apunba Meira Lup (Kanglamei) and Kangleipak Welfare Organization (KAWA) have threatened to block transportation services along Tiddim line and winger passenger service along Thoubal line, if the State Government fails to arrest the culprit(s) involved in the hit and run case of Ch Mani Meitei at the earliest.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, today, the JAC's convenor, Kh Basantakumar Sharma informed that Ch Mani Meitei (55) s/o (L) Ch Amumacha of Torbung, Bishnupur district, succumbed to his injuries after he was knocked down by a winger at Thoubal Haokha, Kakching district on January 27, at around 8 pm.

He said that on January 31, JAC submitted memoranda to the authorities concerned, including the Chief Minister and the DGP through the local MLAs, demanding swift arrests of the culprit(s) involved in the hit and run case but the police and the Government have not been able to provide any positive leads regarding the unfortunate incident till date.

If the Government and the police fail to arrest those involved within February 5, the JAC, along with KANGLAMEI, KAWA and other CSOs of the State, will launch intense forms of agitation, including blocking of transportation and winger services along Tiddim Road and Thoubal line respectively from the next day onwards, Basantakumar added.

KANGLAMEI president, Y Leirik Leima and KAWA president, K Memcha Leima urged the winger service associations in the State, particularly those operating along Thoubal line, to cooperate with the JAC and the CSOs, in finding out the culprit (s) involved in the incident.

They also appealed for support regarding the agitation to be carried out by the JAC in connection with the hit and run case.
