A man was killed by an elephant in Jibtoli Chairmanpara village in Kaptai upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The victim was Kina Chandra Chakma, 55, of the village.
Local Shanta Chakma said Kina, a fisherman, used to catch fish in the Kaptai lake early in the morning every day.
On Wednesday, an elephant came near Kina's house to eat bananas from a tree and attacked him all on a sudden, leaving him dead on the spot.
Sudatta Bikash Chakma, chairman of Jibtoli union parishad, confirmed the incident.
