His Majesty the Sultan receives Egyptian President, reviews bilateral relations











Muscat - 

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on Sunday received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el Sisi who arrived on a three-day state visit. Upon the arrival of the motorcade to the reception building at Muscat Gate, His Majesty the Sultan led the welcoming party for the Egyptian President. 

Alongside with His Majesty the Sultan, the Egyptian President was received by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdul Malik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Minister of Justice and Darwish bin Ismail al Bulushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs.

Later, His Majesty the Sultan and the Egyptian President travelled in a motorcade surrounded by horse riders till the Al Alam Palace. Upon arrival, the Royal Guard of Oman’s music was played, while the trumpet was played upon the arrival of the motorcade of the two leaders at Al Alam Palace Guesthouse square.

Then, His Majesty the Sultan accompanied the Egyptian President to the Dais of Honour where the national anthem of Egypt was played while the artillery fired a 21 gun salute. His Majesty the Sultan then shook hands with members of the delegation accompanying President Sisi. The Egyptian President also shook hands with their highnesses, the chairmen of the State Council and Majlis A’Shura, ministers, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, ROP, and members of the mission of honour accompanying the guest.

Afterwards, His Majesty the Sultan and President Sisi proceeded to the hall to review the good relations binding Oman and Egypt.

The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs (Head of Mission of Honour Accompanying the President), Sheikh Abdul Malik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Minister of Justice, Darwish bin Ismail al Bulushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, Dr Ali bin Ahmed al Issa'ei, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Delegate to the Arab League, whilst it was attended from the Egyptian side by the delegation accompanying the President.

Earlier in the day, the President and his accompanying delegation were received upon their arrival at the Royal Airport by Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs (Head of Mission of Honour Accompanying the President), Dr Ali bin Ahmed al Issa’ei, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Delegate to the Arab League, Ambassador of Egypt to Oman and members of the Egyptian Embassy in Muscat.

During his visit, the Egyptian President is accompanied by a delegation comprising Sameh Shukri, Foreign Minister, Mustafa Sherif Mahmoud, Chief of the Egyptian President’s Office, Eng Tariq Qabeel, Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Hala Helmy, Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform, Lt Gen Mohammed Ahmed Zaki, Commander of the Republican Guard, Maj Gen Abbas Mustafa Kamil, Director of the Office of the Egyptian President and acting head of the General Intelligence Service, Mohammed Ahmed Fahmi, Ambassador of Egypt to Oman and a number of officials.

Later in the day, His Majesty the Sultan also hosted an official dinner for the Egyptian President and his accompanying delegation visiting the sultanate.
