THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP State General Secretary K Surendran has said there had been lavish spending and corruption in the name of Loka Kerala Sabha organised by the Assembly.
On his Facebook page, Surendran alleged that money had been spent for advertisement, food, decoration, transport and flight fare without following rules or traditions and without inviting tender. The government had been sitting on RTI application submitted to get the details of money spent.
“What is going on behind the curtains is the attempt to forge documents and keep it inside the files concerned. The contract for food was given to a private hotel for Rs 17 lakh. For expenses more than Rs 50,000, a tender will have to be called as per rules. But this didn’t happen. Moreover, the plates used by guests were made to wash by workers in Muscat hotel, under the administration of the government. This step had evoked strong protest from labourers,” he said.
