In Kennesaw, Ga., Kennesaw State used a 22-4 run in the second half to pull away from USC Upstate on Saturday, 93-69.

Mike Cunningham led Upstate (6-20, 1-8 Atlantic Sun) with 18 points and a career-high eight assists.

James Scott led all players with a game-high 30 points for Kennesaw State (7-17, 3-6).

The Spartans had three players, along with Cunningham, score in double-figures as Ramel Thompkins added 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and Deion Holmes (Chesnee) had 12.

Avery Diggs led the Spartans defensively with a career-best nine rebounds.

The contest featured 15 lead changes and six ties before the Owls pulled away in the second half. Holmes sent the Spartans into halftime leading 37-36 after connecting on a layup with two seconds left.

Kennesaw State began its decisive run ith 9:46 left in the game, and led by double-figures for the rest of the game. USC Upstate got as close as 12 points, 65-53, after posting a 5-0 run capped by a 3-point play from Diggs with 8:39 left.

USC Upstate returns home on Thursday to host Stetson at 7 p.m.
