A few weeks back, you published an article about the Eglin Air Force Base golf course going from a public to a private operation. I’ve seen no further comments but it has such a huge effect on our community.

First, the new commander deserves a public thank you for returning the course to the people for whom it was built − the people who deserve and earned the use of the recreation facility.
Second, it gave Eglin Air Force Base another boost in being a good neighbor to the local civilian community.
Finally, it corrected the problem of civilians, even non-citizens, getting deals which put the local courses in financial trouble because they could not compete. That is why the local courses would not agree to Eglin continuing to operate in direct competition with them.
Again, a big thank you to our Eglin commander for bringing the golf course back to those who earned it.
