Marion R. Foster Enon Valley Marion R. Foster, 90, of Enon Valley, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, at her residence. Born February 7, 1927, in Enon Valley, she was the daughter of the late William K. and Hadassah E. (Allen) Foster. Marion graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1944, and participated in the inaugural class of a coordinated Wheaton College - West Suburban Hospital program to earn both her RN and BS degrees. Her nursing career spanned many decades, and included working for the Veterans Administration in both Durham, North Carolina and Bay Pines (St. Petersburg), Florida, for Dr. Nelson Kennedy in Darlington for over ten years, and then for the American Red Cross. While employed by the Red Cross, she served in the Pittsburgh, Lebanon, Pa., Massachusetts and Philadelphia offices before traveling to Stuttgart, Germany, where she served as the European Coordinator for five years. She then came back to the U.S. to serve at Red Cross in Washington, DC. After several years in DC, Marion moved to the New York City office of the Red Cross, from which she eventually retired. Throughout her Red Cross career, she participated in many assignments with Red Cross Disaster Relief, covering natural and man-made catastrophes throughout her local regions and nationally. These, along with her service in Europe, were some of her most treasured moments with Red Cross. After her retirement from Red Cross, Marion was employed at the Foreign Policy Association in New York City for ten years, working as the Special Assistant to FPA President Noel Lateef. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William A. Foster and Robert E. Foster, and a sister, Eunice B. White. She is survived by three nieces, Kay Foster (Craig) Munro, June Foster (Frank, deceased) Hollweck, and Sue White (Thomas) French, and one nephew, Robert J. (Melissa) Foster, as well as by great-nephews, Robert W. Foster and Brandt D. Foster. The family invites everyone to attend her memorial service Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at 7 p.m. at the Enon Valley Presbyterian Church, 230 Church Street, Enon Valley, PA 16120. Inurnment will follow in Little Beaver Cemetery. The family would like to thank all of the private care workers for the compassionate care and support they provided to Marion.
