But an appearance last year, where the Olympic gold medalist was forced to step back into the ring due to a meningitis outbreak showed her still had what it takes.
He followed this up by captaining Team Raw in the Survivor Series main event.
And a message to his followers on Instagram showed that we may not have seen the last of Angle in the wrestling ring.

When asked what his favourite character was in WWE, Angle dropped a hint that fans could soon see it again.
He wrote: “Kurt Angle ‘Wrestling Machine Mode’ was my favourite character I’m WWE.
“He wasn’t very funny but he could take out anybody in an instant.
“Will the ‘wrestling machine’ make a return? Stay tuned.”
His fans clearly support the idea, whipping up a frenzy about Kurt entering the ring again.
Cowboy Casanova wrote: “The rosters’ ankles aren’t safe.
Steven Runnion added: “Don’t play with my feelings Kurt Angle.”
Rosalyn Amadeo also wrote: “Hope to see you back in the ring.”
Rumours for Kurt’s in ring return have included a possible tag team match with newcomer Ronda Rousey against HHH and Stephanie McMahon.
