Virat Kohli decided to bowl first in the second ODI against South Africa

Virat Kohli chose to chase with an unchanged XI in Centurion, where he expects the two new white balls to move a little in the morning but batting to become easier in the afternoon. "We've got a good chance of getting anything they set us," a confident Kohli said, before also boasting that India will look to put extra pressure on a South African side without two of their senior batsmen.

Regular captain Faf du Plessis and former captain AB de Villiers were both out with injuries, opening the door for Khaya Zondo to make his debut and Aiden Markram to become the second-youngest South African captain and 10th youngest of all time. A nervous Markram, who has only played two ODIs before this one, admitted he did not mind whether the team set a target or chased one but was hoping the surface would take some turn later on.

The South African one-day cup's leading wicket-taker, Tabraiz Shamsi, was included in the XI, which features the unusual combinations of two spinners. Allrounder Andile Phehlukwayo was left out as a result. Chris Morris was retained and will make up a three-pronged pace pack with Kagiso Rabada and Morne Morkel.
