Her work has led her to be recognized in the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 list of business leaders and successful individuals, as well as a 2012 and 2013 Rising Star by Mid-South Super Lawyers in the field of estate planning and probate. She has also been named a Super Lawyer each year since 2014 by the same organization. “Rebecca’s six years of service on the Alumni Advisory Council as chair of the by-laws committee were invaluable,” said Rick Goins, director of alumni affairs at UAFS. “We relied on her legal skills multiple times as the association grew. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with her as a new member of the UAFS Foundation Board, and she has graciously agreed to be the AAC ‘legal consultant’ going forward.”

Marta Loyd, executive director of the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute and former vice chancellor for university advancement at University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, will be given the Diligence to Victory Award at the university’s Homecoming Reunion Social on Feb. 9.

Loyd is a former UAFS administrator who helped grow the university’s endowment to more than $50 million

With a career beginning as a dental hygienist, Loyd served as interim director of the dental hygiene program at UAFS for a year before being promoted to vice chancellor for university advancement in 2002. In her 12-year tenure in that role, she was instrumental in transforming the Westark Community College Foundation to a comprehensive university foundation with an endowment of more than $55 million and assets of more than $75 million.

Loyd assumed her current position at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute in 2014, where she serves as the chief executive officer of the institute.

“To be recognized by the university that I love and that gave me so much more than I gave it is honestly one of the most humbling honors I’ve ever received,” Loyd said in a news release. “I enjoyed my time at Westark as a student when I was in-between careers, and I especially loved working with the generous donors of the university in support of students, faculty and administration. UAFS is a unique and special place and will always be an important part of my life.”
