Court dates have been scheduled for the suspect in a Sept. 4 fatal shooting at Solar Trailer Park outside of Thibodaux.
Brhian Thomas, 37, of Thibodaux, is charged with the second-degree murder of Deeric Raymond, 29, of Raceland. A grand jury indicted him Nov. 14.
Thomas' next court date is May 18, and his trial is set for July 13 in state District Judge Buddy Larose's courtroom in Thibodaux. He remains in the Lafourche Parish jail on a $500,000 bond.
According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the trailer park about 1:25 a.m. Sept. 4 and found Raymond in a car's passenger seat with a gunshot wound to the torso. He died at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.
Raymond had tried to break up a fight between Thomas and another man, authorities said. After the two were separated, Thomas allegedly pulled out a gun and fired multiple rounds, one of them hitting Raymond.
Authorities said Thomas then left the scene but turned himself in Sept. 6.
In Louisiana, a second-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
