Pierzinski advances in Section 6A Triple A competition

Pequot Lakes senior Reid Pierzinski will represent Subsection 24 as the male candidate in the Section 6A Triple A Award competition (Academics, Arts and Athletics Award).
Pierzinski was selected from candidates from 11 schools in Subsection 24. He will now be one of four finalists to advance to the section level, according to Activities Director Marc Helmrichs.
Established in 1988, the Triple A Award is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to high school seniors who have a B or better grade-point average and who participate in league-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Pierzinski participates in band, cross country and track and has a 4.0 grade-point average. He has qualified for the state cross country meet three consecutive years. He has also participated in the state track meet the past three years and placed in four events his junior year. He was a state champion in three events in 2017: the 110 hurdles, the 300 high hurdles and the 4x400 relay.
In band, Pierzinski has received three consecutive superior ratings in the solo/ensemble contests.
He will attend South Dakota State University and will pursue a degree in math education. He is the son of Rodney and DeAnne Peirzinski, of Lake Shore.
"Subsection 24 has a strong tradition of excellent Triple A candidates," Helmrichs said in a news release. "Reid and his family should be proud of this accomplishment. Section 6A does a first class job of recognizing the finalists and their parents with a program."
The section winners will be announced Tuesday, Feb. 6, at a luncheon at the Bigwood Event Center in Fergus Falls.
