Late basket leads Griz past Fighting Hawks
MISSOULA, Mont.—Montana's Taylor Goligoski's basket with 2.2 seconds to go gave the Griz a 53-51 win over North Dakota on Saturday in a Big Sky Conference game.
The Fighting Hawks rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter and tied the game in the final minute before Goligoski hit the game-winner.
UND junior Fallyn Freije worked through an injury to post 19 points and 10 rebounds while Lexi Klabo added 14 points and 12 rebounds.
"I liked our defensive effort today and our overall effort and attitude was UND basketball," said UND coach Travis Brewster. "Fallyn Freije is tough. Period. Fallyn and this team are starting exude toughness and soon success will follow."
Down by 10 points with six minutes to play, Jill Morton made the second of her two three-pointers before Klabo added a three-point play to cut the Griz lead to 49-45. Later, it was 51-48 before Freije drove the lane and for another three-point play to tie the game.
From there, Montana ran the clock down to two seconds before Goligoski hit the game-winner.
UND dropped to 3-8 in the Big Sky and 10-12 overall.
