India who managed to bowl out all their opponents for only the second time in the history of the tournament after 2006 did not break into a sweat as they wrapped up the summit clash with enough and more time on hand.
India bowled well to begin with in the final and managed to restrict the Australians to just 216 runs in the first innings, after which the in-form batting line up did their job. India lost their captain Shaw early on, but Manjor Kalra, the left handed opener held forte and finally carried his bat through the innings. Kalra who remained unbeaten on 101 at the end helped complete the chase before the end of the 39th over.
With this fourth crown, India surpassed Australia in the race of most U-19 World Cup titles. Prior to the final, India and Australia were locked at three titles each.
At the end of this historic day, here’s how Twitter and the world reacted to India’s fantastic performance.
