Punjab BJP on Saturday took strong exception to the fresh notification issued by the State Government regarding imposition of Section 4 of the Punjab Land Preservation Act (PLPA), 1900, in 15 villages of Mohali district and termed the move as anti-farmer, anti-poor, illegal and violative of the High Court orders.

Addressing a Press conference in the presence of Panches and Sarpanches of Majri, Nada, Mirzapur, Tarapur, Pachchad and Guacher villages, Punjab BJP secretary Vineet Joshi said that the press note released by state Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot after notifying the PLPA is grossly misleading.

Coming down heavily on Dharamsot for his pack of lies, Joshi refuted the claims made by the forest minster. Dharamsot, in his press note, has claimed of conducting an enquiry/scientific study in 15 villages of kandi area in Mohali District before implementing the PLPA. The report, as per Dharamsot, terms the area as ‘Severe Erosion’ area. Joshi demanded that the enquiry/scientific study report be made public, indicating that the evaluation was never conducted.
