70th Independence Day celebrations begin
70th Independence Day celebrations have begun in Galle Face Grounds at the moment.
Our correspondent at the event reported that President Maithripala Sirisena, First Lady, Prime Mnister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Second Lady, the Speaker, Karu Jayasuriya and several distinguished personnel including Heads of Tri-forces, Inspector General of Police and international envoys grace today's event.
Meanwhile, Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex and Princess Sophie Wessex has arrived representing the British Crown; Queen Elizabeth II.
