ROCKFORD — A 60-year-old Rockford man suffered life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle Friday night in Rockford, according to police.

Rockford officers were sent at 5:58 p.m. to the 4100 block of Harrison Avenue after the pedestrian was hit, police said. Lt. Michael Ahrens said in a news release that police found the man unconscious on the north side of the street. Paramedics took him to the hospital.

The man was listed in serious condition Saturday morning, according to Ahrens.

The driver and a passenger in the vehicle that hit the man remained at the crash site and weren’t injured, according to Ahrens.

Ahrens said in an email that police are still investigating the crash.

Harrison Avenue from South Alpine Road to Colorado Avenue was closed for about six hours while officers investigated the crash.
