Batshuayi bags brace on debut
BERLIN • New signing Michy Batshuayi enjoyed a dream debut at Borussia Dortmund, scoring twice on Friday as his football club edged Cologne 3-2 in the Bundesliga.
Andre Schuerrle made sure of Dortmund's first league win of the year with an 84th-minute winner after Cologne twice came back from a goal down.
Batshuayi arrived on Wednesday on loan from Chelsea to plug the gap left by the departure of last season's Bundesliga top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal in the Premier League.

West Ham sack head of recruitment
LONDON • West Ham on Friday sacked their director of player recruitment Tony Henry after investigating allegations that he made racist comments about African footballers.
The Daily Mail had reported that Henry said the Hammers wanted to limit the number of African players because "they have a bad attitude" and "cause mayhem" when they are not in the team.

Wozniacki falls at q-finals in Russia
MOSCOW • World No. 1 tennis player Caroline Wozniacki suffered her first defeat since lifting the Australian Open trophy when she was edged out 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 by Russia's Daria Kasatkina in the quarter-finals at the St Petersburg Ladies' Trophy on Friday.
Kasatkina, 20, was dominant in the tiebreak to claim the opening set and won three of the last four games of the match against Wozniacki, who had fought hard to get back on serve halfway into the second set.

Unfancied duo lead Maybank event
KUALA LUMPUR • England's Lee Westwood turned in a two-under 70 on the penultimate round of the Maybank Championship in Malaysia yesterday to trail joint leaders Jorge Campillo and Dylan Frittelli by three shots.
The 44-year-old Westwood won the Malaysian Open at Saujana Golf and Country Club 21 years ago. And he shot a 62 on Friday for the lowest score yet. Spaniard Campillo and South Africa's Frittelli both dropped in a 66 for the single-stroke advantage over American Berry Henson (65) and India's Joshi Khalin (65).
