Louisiana Public Broadcasting and the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge have extended the deadline for 2018 Louisiana Young Heroes nominations.
Forms are now due by Feb. 12.
"A Young Hero can be defined in many ways, but to those who know them, they are exceptional students who devote their time, talents and energy to make a difference," according to a news release.
Now in its 23rd year, the Louisiana Young Hero Awards annually honor students in grades seven through 12 who excel in the classroom, serve their local communities and sometimes demonstrate great personal courage in overcoming adversity.
Students must be enrolled in a Louisiana school (public, private or parochial) or home-schooled, and cannot be older than 19. Nomination forms can be downloaded and filled out or submitted through the online form at lpb.org/heroes.
Winners will be announced on LPB's weekly news and public affairs program "Louisiana: The State We're In" and at lpb.org at 7 p.m. Feb. 23. Louisiana Young Heroes Day will be Monday, April 16. The Young Heroes will be treated to a day full of activities in Baton Rouge.
