The award winning playwright Anna Ziegler’s “Boy,” directed by Suki Sauru and starring Jeff Hunsicker (Adam/Samantha), Carley Martone (Jenny), Andrea Cronin (Trudy), Eric Jarrell (Doug) and Tom Tansey (Wendell) is now on stage at Steel River Playhouse. “Boy” is an exciting new play about finding love in the midst of confusion about sexual identity. This five-star cast will bring to life this incredible story inspired by a real life 1960s tale of a baby boy that is terribly maimed in an accident. The parents are persuaded by a well-meaning doctor to raise the baby as a daughter. Two decades later the repercussions of that choice continue to unfold. A story of the blinding power of love and the complicated mystery of one’s perception of self, Boy is a moving play that calls into question how we become who we are.

Praise for “Boy” includes:

“Expect it to be a long while before there’s another play more rewarding, more moving, and more magical than Boy.” – Talkin’ Broadway.

“A great play…. Boy has both the white hot issue of gender identity and the simple fact that it’s very, very good in its favor. They’ll be performing it for years to come…Ziegler’s intelligent script lays out this complex story with precision and grace.” — Huffington Post (Michael Giltz).
