THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Locals of Pothencode Kuruvalla Dalit colony have made allegations of police high-handedness. The incident happened on Friday at the house DHRM activist Aneesh's house, where a team of cops under the SI rouged up locals there.

But the SI, denying allegations of  police high-handedness, said that he had got complaints about certain strangers frequenting the place, based on which the team went there. He said locals blocked and quarrelled with his team including police women, when they started enquiring about the strangers.

Aneesh said his relatives had visited his house, which had also been functioning as DHRM district committee office, to attend thread tying ceremony of his daughter.Pothencode SI and his team of five members roughed up his friends and relatives after Aneesh's father asked the police what was wrong in his relatives visiting his house. Then the SI pushed him and tried to nab Aneesh and his relative Aadi.

In the melee Aadi, Aneesh, Neethu Saumya, Rashmi Krishna, Ranju, Shiju and Raveendran got injured. Aadi, Neethu, Ranju and Shiju have been admitted to Medical college hospital and the rest to a nearby private hospital.
