Recycling sites shutting down

WINTER HAVEN — The city of Winter Haven will be shutting down recycling facilities at Rotary and W.G. Roe Parks, according to a news release.

Containers, fencing and bollards at both facilities are expected to be shut down by Monday. Since the facilities were installed in the 1990s, the city has developed a recycling program that has made the facilities obsolete. Over time, according to the release, the sites have become popular illegal dumping grounds for bulk items, junk and debris.
