Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp defends Sadio Mane's recent poor form

JURGEN KLOPP has defended out of form star Sadio Mane.

The Liverpool attacker has struggled to replicate the performances he showed for the club last season.

Mane has only found the net twice in his last 10 outings for the Reds.

Meanwhile, team-mates Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have been scoring with ease.

But Klopp insists Mane's form is not concerning him at present.

"I don't think too much about it, to be honest. Even if Sadio is not at his best, he's still a threat,' he said.

"He had the two biggest chances at Huddersfield (a 3-0 win on Tuesday) and didn't score but no problem.

“You have to go through, build on the good things and work on the not so good things”

Jurgen Klopp

"You need to carry on.

"I realise good moments, fantastic moments and average moments of players but it's not always you can change it immediately.

"You have to go through, build on the good things and work on the not so good things.

"Sadio on an average day is still a fantastic player - that's the good news."

Mane was enjoying a strong season before receiving a straight red card for a high tackle on Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.

But Klopp is backing the forward to get back to his best.

"In this season he's had interruptions with injuries and a red card," he added.

"Not perfect.

"For sure the new situation too with Mo Salah in.

"They are best mates so not jealous but everyone is watching him.

"It's about adapting to different situations and how the team grows together.

"Sadio can play better, we all know, so let's work on it."

Liverpool take on Tottenham tomorrow afternoon (4.30pm).
