Registration is open for this year’s All American Marathon and its sister races, the Mike to Mike Half Marathon and the All American 5k.
The fifth annual running of the All American, a joint event hosted by Fort Bragg and the city of Fayetteville, is March 25.
The marathon and half marathon races begin at 7 a.m. in downtown Fayetteville, and routes for both races travel west on Morganton Road before veering onto the All American Freeway.
After a divergence in course to accommodate the difference in distance, the two race routes will come back together for a finish at Fort Bragg’s Main Post Parade Field.
The All American 5k, which starts at 7:30 a.m., takes place on Fort Bragg.
Online registration for the races is available through active.com, but the event has its own website, allamericanmarathon.com, with information for runners, spectators and volunteers.
The price to enter the races varies depending on the race length and military or civilian status. Racers can sign up in person as late as the night before the race at the pre-race Health and Fitness Expo.
There’s still time to sign up to volunteer to help along the race route, in the gear check area and at the post-race finish festival.
Anyone interested in volunteering should call the marathon office at 907-3616.
Tattoo contest
American Tattoo Society and Sports USA want to see your ink. The pair are working together to host the Got Ink Tattoo Contest.
Submissions are being accepted Sunday through Feb. 28. The contest is open to active-duty military service members, as well as National Guard members and reservists, retirees and family members.
Tattoos can be entered into any of five categories — patriotic, realism, portrait, black and gray or American traditional.
An application and a photograph of the tattoo should be emailed to fortbraggmwr@yahoo.com before the deadline.
Five finalists for each category will be notified by March 7 and will be judged live by a panel of tattoo artists at Sports USA on March 10.
Prizes include American Tattoo Society gift cards, a cruise and VIP passes to the All American Tattoo Convention scheduled for April 13-15 at the Crown Coliseum.
