I am highly upset with our Congress, shutting down the government for clearly political purposes. They forget that in the 1980s the Democrats convinced President Reagan to go along with amnesty for the illegal people that were in this country. It was stated that there were 12 million. The Democrats promised if the president gave amnesty that they would secure the southern border. Well they did nothing on securing the border. Instead it stayed open.
Now up to the Obama administration. He came up with an executive order called DACA. This caused a great influx of illegal crossing of the border, they were called Dreamers. Nancy Pelosi was seen on television stating "the door is open, come on in". The Democrats use the number 800,000 Dreamers are in the country. On Jan. 19, USA Today gives the figure as 3.6 million. It must be noted this DACA issue is not a law, as it has not gone through the Congress to become a law.
What did Congress do to make it a law? They set on their lazy rear ends and swept it under the rug. When President Trump decided to do something about it, he gave Congress six months to fix the problem. What did the Democrats, in Congress do to fix it? Same, thing nothing, but complain.
Now lets us come up to date. The government has to come up with a budget by law. So the Democrats thought they would make political point and fail to make DACA, a law and hold the country hostage until they got their way. Instead of working out the problem they kept putting up roadblocks until the government (shutdown) except for Congress, who exempted themselves from it, furloughing all non-essential employees. The employees would get reimbursed when the government started up again.
One of the non-essential groups is the military. I do believe that in the Constitution it states that we have a military. Now if the founding fathers thought, for the safety of this nation we have military, wouldn’t they would make them an important group at least as important as Congress. I guess the Democrats wanted to hurt as many citizens as they could to get there way.
