Prep Roundup: Yahmir Muhammad keeps Knights rolling in win over Guilford

The boys NIC-10 basketball race is heating up in the final weeks. Yahmir Muhammad had 19 points for Auburn in a 53-39 win over Guilford on Friday. He had 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter for the Knights. Tyler Knuth had 13 points for Guilford. With a Boylan victory over Jefferson, Auburn is tied at top of the conference at 10-2 with the Titans.  

Belvidere 68, Freeport 56: Phil Kolk led Belvidere with 16 points, going 7-for-9 from the free-throw line. The game featured 58 shots from the charity stripe with Belvidere going 24-for-33. Cade Budenz had 17 points for Freeport.

East 84, Belvidere North 63: East's Chris Burnell (19 points) and Scott Gowan (16) combined to hit six 3-pointers. Zach Reidenbach had 15 points and two 3-pointers for Belvidere North.

Hononegah 75, Harlem 54: Brayden Hennis led Hononegah with 26 points and six 3-pointers.Kameron Kolberg had 17 points and Caleb Donaldson had 14 points for Hononegah as well. Dom Renteria had 13 points for Harlem.

Girls

Dakota 74, Polo 30: Ellie Packer had 23 points for Dakota and Paiton Meier recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Aquin 51 Amboy 34: Abby Barr led Aquin with 14 points and Maggie Bald added 10.

Eastland 67 Warren 38: Erin Henze had a game-high 30 points for Eastland with six 3-pointers. Her teammate Lydia Coatney hit three 3-pointers to go along with 15 points. Brynn Bohnsack had 12 points for Warren.

Milledgeville 53 Pecatonica 37: Madyson Frederick had 18 points, going 8-for-9 from the free-throw line, for Milledgeville. Laura Schulze (20 points) hit four 3-pointers for Pecatonica, but Indians had a 26-16 halftime deficit and could never climb back.

East 57, Belvidere North 31: Mariah Hill (13 points), Halee Bergstrom (12), and Kabrea Jamerson (12) led East. Brianna Lake had seven points for Belvidere North.

Guilford 46, Auburn 40: Kate Dennis had 18 points for Guilford, which was down 36-30 at the end of the third quarter. They were able to shutdown Auburn defensively, only allowing them four free throws in the last quarter.
