Baramulla, Feb 4: Two Pakistan-trained Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were arrested by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday after they crossed over via the Wagah-Attari border in Punjab. The two terrorists claimed that they were given valid visas by the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, ANI reported.

“They had gone to Pakistan on valid Pakistani visa to obtain arms training there for undertaking terrorist activities in the Kashmir Valley,” the Baramulla Police said. The two LeT terrorists were arrested in a joint operation by the J&K police, Army, and CRPF.

“The arrested terrorists were given Pakistani visas by Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. It’s pertinent to mention that for past couple of years police has unearthed several such modules who lure young boys to Pakistan to get trained and join militancy,” ANI quoted the Baramulla police as saying. (Also Read: Jammu And Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti Advocates Talks, Says PoK is Part of Kashmir)

The police said that they (the terrorists) were arrested immediately after they crossed over to India via Wagah-Attari border before they could “formally join the militant ranks here in Kashmir”. Jammu and Kashmir police chief  SP Vaid slammed the High Commission and said, “Those imparting training are in collusion with those giving visas.”

“Our neighbouring nation has resorted to allow movement of terrorists by issuing valid visa to them, as infiltration is now tough after security forces tightened security even more,” he added. During the investigation, the arrested terrorists, identified as Abdul Majeed Bhat and Mohammad Ashraf Mir, admitted they travelled to Pakistan to receive arms training in Islamabad to carry out terror attacks in Kashmir, the police said. They also revealed that the training camp had many teenagers, mostly from Balochistan.

The spokesman said, “They said terrorist training camps are located near Burma Town, in Islamabad, and are being run by a terrorist commander operating under code names Hanzala, Adanan and Omar. Other terrorists imparting training to young boys are operating with code names Osama, Naveed and Hataf.”

Earlier in the day, it was also reported that in an order to bring Kashmiri Youth in its fold, the Pakistani authorities have been offering educational scholarships to the students of the valley. The charge sheet also mentioned that many separatist leaders have been recommending names of such scholarships to the Kashmiri Youth.

“During the course of investigation, it was ascertained that students who were proceeding to Pakistan on student visas were either relatives of ex-terrorists or relatives of families of active terrorists who had indulged in various anti-national activities and had migrated to Pakistan or they were known to Hurriyat leaders,” the NIA stated in its charge sheet.
