Live Updates

Burnley 0-1 Manchester City

38: Kevin De Bruyne finds space on the edge of the box and unleashes a low drive. Nick Pope parries the shot but only to Sergio Aguero who from the penalty spot fails to control the ball and a deflection off his knee safely returns the ball to the goalkeeper.
YELLOW CARD
Burnley 0-1 Manchester City

37: Kevin Long is the first player into Martin Atkinson's book after a foul on Ilkay Gundogan as the German went through the gears and the Burnley midfield.
Burnley 0-1 Manchester City

Danilo became the sixth Manchester City player to score from outside the box this season. It really was some strike.

Burnley 0-1 Manchester City

31: Ben Mee goes close to equalising. He swings his left foot at a  looped ball and fires a shot goal-bound but Ederson gets across well to turn the ball behind for a corner. That's some technique for a central defender.
Burnley 0-1 Manchester City

29: Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling combine well on the left side and the German fires in a low ball back to Sterling who is beaten to the cross by Kevin Long.
Burnley 0-1 Manchester City

28: Raheem Sterling gets space on the left flank, cuts inside and shoots but his effort is aimed straight at Nick Pope. City are really in control, which will surprise nobody.
Tough task

23: Sean Dyche has never won a Premier League game with Burnley after conceding the first goal. It would be some effort to make that change this afternoon.

GOAL!
Burnley 0-1 Manchester City

21: City had started to crank up the pressure and Danilo scores a stunning goal from around 25 yards out. Bernardo Silva finds the defender in space and he opens up his body to curl a wonderful effort into the top corner.
Burnley 0-0 Manchester City

19: A long diagonal ball towards Sam Vokes forces Ederson to rush out and clear the ball from well outside his area. Nicolas Otamendi has his goalkeeper thank after the Argentine defender was caught napping when Vokes ran in behind him.
Burnley 0-0 Manchester City

14: City work a short corner to Bernardo Silva who crosses towards Vincent Kompany. The pass is aimed at the back post and a touch from Ashley Barnes complicates things for Nick Pope who goes down holding his knee after scooping up the ball. He's back on his feet but Anders Lindegaard is warming up.

10: Burnley are, as expected, defending well. City are looking at Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker to find an opening on the right wing but space is very limited.

Burnley 0-0 Manchester City

5: City win a corner and Nicolas Otamendi heads on at the front post to Vincent Kompany who directs a header to goal but it is saved. In his attempts to stop Kompany, Phil Bardsley has taken a knock, remind me, which team needs greater protection from referees?
Burnley 0-0 Manchester City

4: Not a huge deal of action in the first couple of minutes. Vincent Kompany has already imposed himself on Ashley Barnes who takes some time to get to his feet after losing an aerial duel.
Kick off

1: And we're off. Manchester City get things underway at a rainy Turf Moor.
"We were lucky"

Bernardo Silva is the latest from the Manchester City camp to seek more protection from referees.

Last Time

Burnley had a miserable afternoon at the Etihad when these two sides met in the Premier League earlier in the season. City enjoyed 78% of the ball and goals from Sergio Aguero, Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane rounded off a poor afternoon for Sean Dyche's side who failed to register a shot on target.

Attack vs Defence

Team News

Scott Arfield and Ashley Westwood make way for Sam Vokes and Aaron Lennon, who makes his first Premier League start for his new side.

Manchester City name only six players on their bench, yes six, yes Manchester City. On the pitch, Danilo, Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan return to the starting eleven with new record signing Aymeric Laporte having to make do with a seat on the bench.
