No spring, onset of summer soon in State!

With rising of temperature in the past two days, Odisha may not experience the usual period of spring this month.

If the present conditions continue in the upcoming days, there may be no spring season at all before onset of an early summer.

Normally, the temperature rises in mid-March. Prevailing conditions suggest that the maximum temperature in several places is likely to cross 37 degree Celsius in February and may touch 40 degree in March.

The condition is likely to continue in the next two days. The temperature is likely to fall due to possible rains in the second week of February before heat conditions start early if there is no rain in the upcoming days, said Bhubaneswar MeT Director Sharat Chandra Sahoo.

The maximum temperature was above 30 degree Celsius in 17 places of the State in the past 24 hours. Malkangiri recorded the maximum temperature 33.4 degree, Sonepur 33.2 degree, Balangir 33 degree, Gopalpur 32.9 degree, Jharsuguda 32.7 degree, Titilagarh 32.5 degree, Bhubaneswar 31.9 degree and Cuttack 31.5 degree.

Although, the daytime weather remains hot, the cold conditions, however, persist in interior parts. People experience cold; and it continues till morning. While Phulbani had the minimum temperature 5.8 degree C, Sundergarh had 8 degree on Thursday night.
