Adrian men's hockey stretches win streak to 10

The NAIA No.10-ranked Siena Heights University women’s lacrosse team opened its season with a bang, routing Cleary 27-7 in a non-conference contest Friday.

The Saints at one point scored 11 unanswered goals against the Cougars (0-1).

Jenna Sommerville scored on every shot she took, tallying six goals on six shots on net for Siena Heights, while Taylor Swartz had seven assists in addition to three goals.

Freshman goalkeeper Lizzy Elliott got the win for SHU, stopping six of 13 Cougar shots.

MEN’S HOCKEY
Adrian 2, Lake Forest 1: At Lake Forest, Ill., the NCAA Division III top-ranked Bulldogs got a power-play goal from Taylor McCloy midway through third period to lift them to their 10th straight win of the season in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game.

Mathew Thompson and Kyle Brothers picked up the assists on McCloy’s winner for the Bulldogs (18-4, 14-1 NCHA), while Cameron Cooper had Adrian’s other goal 4:01 into the contest off an assist from Cory Dunn.

Adrian netminder Kevin Entmaa turned aside 26 of 27 shots from Lake Forest (11-10-1, 8-6-1).

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Adrian at Olivet: The Bulldogs got their first win of the season by defeating Olivet 25-22, 12-25, 26-24, 25-22.

Noah Marcinkowski led the Bulldogs (1-4), striking for a team-high 14 kills, six digs, two aces and two block assists. 

Michael Burkhardt had five block assists, while Kyle Bell led Adrian in digs with 17. Joseph Campana tallied 39 assists.

WRESTLING
Alma 35, Adrian 15: At Adrian, the Bulldogs could not grab a victory on their senior night, falling to 2-8 with a loss to the Scots.

Dominic Paterra (133), Dylan Steward (157) and senior heavyweight Zach Rieger (Hudson) all picked up victories, with Steward’s coming via a pin.
